I found myself in this studio.

This was by far the best decision I have ever made for myself.

  • 1. What brought you to Elizabeth Craig for a session?
  • I first found Elizabeth when I was looking for photographers for my wedding. A boudoir photography session never even crossed my mind, but when I found her page and started browsing all of her work I couldn’t believe how she was able to capture the beauty and confidence in all of these women.
  • 2. What, if anything, would have been an obstacle or fear that would have prevented you from a session with Elizabeth?
  • I actually scheduled a session before my wedding, I planned to give it to my husband as a wedding present. However my nerves got the best of me and I cancelled, even after meeting with Elizabeth at her studio and talking to her beforehand because I was nervous. All of these thoughts kept running through my mind of how I wasn’t pretty enough, sexy enough, and that I would probably go and my session would be the worst she had ever had. Then 2 years later I decided I was going to go for it. I kept following Elizabeth after my initial encounter and just loved how beautiful and confident these women looked and I wanted that for myself.
  • 3. How did you expect the experience of the session to be for you vs. how you feel the experience actually was for you (if there was a difference at all)?
  • I told myself when I woke up the morning of my session that I was not going to be nervous and I was going to go in there and just go for it. I was so excited. Once I parked my car and started walking to the studio my nerves started creeping in. I had the same thoughts running through my head: you aren’t good enough, you will never to be able to make good eye connection or expressions, what are you doing. I was very quiet while there and E even commented that I was one of her quietest clients. I was so excited and so nervous at the same time so I was not very talkative. Once I sat in the chair and started with hair and makeup, and I was given a glass of champagne I started to relax. She showed me how I looked in the mirror and I couldn’t believe how beautiful I looked. E took me through every single pose and told me exactly how to connect with the camera. It honestly felt like I had done this 100x before, after getting started I felt so comfortable, and was having a blast.
  • 4. What was your favorite part of your session?
  • My favorite part of my session was when E showed me some of my shots on her camera after taking them, I was able to see them and see that I had it in me. I was so worried about having a horrible session because I really only ever smile in pictures, I didn’t feel I was capable of looking sexy and confident, and when I saw those pictures I just could not believe that, that was me and I was really rocking it!
  • 5. Have you noticed any differences in yourself since your session / Do you feel the same about your inner/outer beauty or has that self-perception changed at all in a positive way, and if so, did that feeling last for you / Do you see yourself differently now? If so, what are those changes?
  • I have seen such a turn around in my self-perception; I used to be an extremely quiet, reserved, and self-conscious woman. I was constantly worrying about what others thought of me and never thought I was good enough because of past experiences so I figured if I just stayed low and never really did anything out of the norm I would be perfectly fine and content. After my session with E, I just felt alive. When we met for my reveal, I sat in the chair next to her and was in awe of how amazing this experience truly was for me. Me, the girl who was nervous to wear a bikini to my family pool because of self image issues, totally rocked my boudoir session. I looked amazing, and realized living life in my past experiences and in the shadows was a total waste of my life. From that day I am so much more confident in myself as an individual, I love my body, I started chasing dreams of mine, and actually started my own personal business where I am helping other women realize their full potential and that it is totally ok to love yourself and be who you really want to be deep down inside.
  • 6. How do you define “beautiful” and has that changed, been strengthened or weakened since your session?
  • Beautiful to me used to be the celebrities and models you see on tv or in magazines, with the “perfect” skin, body, hair, and makeup. After my session with E and growing and learning more about myself since then I have come to realize beauty is not an image, it is truly what is inside. Being beautiful to me is loving yourself, being confident in who you are as a person, and being someone who does not care about what others think of you, if you want something you go after it and you don’t stop until you reach your goal. We have been brainwashed to think beauty is a certain number on a scale, a smaller dress size, and just “perfection”. Now I truly believe that there is no one such thing as perfection, everyone is different and that is what makes each person beautiful in his or her own way.
  • 7. Would recommend that women in your life have a session with Elizabeth? Would you refer your friends/family?
  • Yes I would! I have told multiple friends and also some family members about my session! It was such an experience and I know I want have another on in the future!
  • 8. What are 3 words to describe how you felt about your experience with Elizabeth before the actual session?
  • Nervous, self conscious, and doubtful.
  • 9. What are 3 words to describe how you felt about your experience with Elizabeth as you were leaving the studio after your session? Do those feelings still ring true for you?
  • I felt confident, beautiful, and just absolutely amazing. And yes they do!
  • 10. Is there anything else you would like to add?
  • My session with E was initially a gift I wanted to give my husband for Christmas. Then as time went on I truly just wanted to do this for myself, I wanted to show myself that I was capable of being beautiful and confident, even though when I was walking into my session more nervous than anything. A session with E is more than just a photo shoot, well it was for me. It opened up a whole new part of me that was always there but I just never knew how to let it out. I don’t think I would have made the progress I have since my session emotionally, physically, and even with my new career if I would not have had this experience. I think every woman deserves to feel beautiful and know that she is capable of anything and having a session with E totally did this for me!

It started out to be a gift for someone else, but it turned out to be a gift for me.

As a person I felt myself fading away. I knew the only person who could give that back to me was Elizabeth.

  • 1. What brought you to Elizabeth Craig for a session?
  • The first session was for my husband's birthday. I wanted to do something special and mind-blowing. I wanted to show him how much I appreciated all he'd done for me and my family. Through all the life changes we'd been through at that time, I wanted to remind him the girl he fell in love with and thought was the prettiest girl he'd ever seen was still in here. Even though heels had turned into Uggs and VS sweats. And to be honest, I did it to show myself.
  • My wonderful sequel was not an option, it was a must. I needed to take back the power I'd lost in my life, in me, in everything. My world was slowly crumbling with the loss of my parents so close together. My health. My family. Me. As a person I felt myself fading away. I knew the only person who could give that back to me was Elizabeth.
  • 2. What, if anything, would have been an obstacle or fear that would have prevented you from a session with Elizabeth? My first session was fear and insecurity. It required me stepping out of my comfort zone and baring it all. Baring it all not just with my body but my mind, my love for myself, allowing myself to be vulnerable. Something I was raised not to do.
  • Aww, the second time you'd think would've been easier, but it wasn't. I had to admit and face something I'd been struggling with and hiding from everyone in my life including my family. I was diagnosed with a Central Nervous Disease right before my Father had passed. I spent more time at doctors than anywhere else. I didn't want to scare my kids so I hid my progressing symptoms. My husband was in denial and not the most supportive. So I tried not to bother him.
  • I was embarrassed and ashamed. Everything about me started to change. From the way I walked, talked, sat, stood. The changes my body was being forced to make. I'd watched my Mother suffer for years, she became unrecognizable. She hated pictures before and despised them even more after. I knew I was going to get worse. I wanted to remember me the way I was. I needed to own my problems and move past them so I could deal better. Elizabeth and her husband helped me do that.
  • 3. How did you expect the experience of the session to be for you vs. how you feel the experience actually was for you (if there was a difference at all)?
  • I expected it to be uncomfortable and scary. Both sessions were liberating, comfortable, fun, confidence boosting. Nothing like I thought. I walked out loving myself more and caring less what others thought. Gave me strength.
  • 4. What was your favorite part of your session?
  • I think probably around the second outfit change. You look at yourself in the mirror and you're like, "I got this shit!" You loosen up and start having fun. She makes you feel that way. My absolute favorite part was getting to know Elizabeth. She's truly amazing. She's not just a photographer or artist. She's inspiration. She's what you want to be. Strong, caring, personable. She definitely leaves a mark. I was lucky enough to meet her husband who is equally amazing.
  • Seeing the pictures after. You're nervous thinking you'll hate all of them. You're ready to critique every inch of your body, but instead you see you. The way she captures your eyes in the light. How cute the smirk you made when you didn't think she was shooting. What makes her the best and my favorite is it's you, you see. Too many people Photoshop to the extreme.
  • 5. Have you noticed any differences in yourself since your session / Do you feel the same about your inner/outer beauty or has that self-perception changed at all in a positive way, and if so, did that feeling last for you / Do you see yourself differently now? If so, what are those changes?
  • I definitely noticed a difference. She brought my sexy back. Sometimes we get caught in this rut where we forget who we are. Our lives are about our kids, husbands, housework, work, sports, play dates, ect. We feel selfish or wrong when we want our "own" time or a new pair of shoes. Just because we become mothers and wives does not mean we have to lose ourselves. We can be it all and feel damn good doing it too. I don't choose to fit into what society says a "mother" should be, do, or act like.
  • 6. How do you define “beautiful" and has that changed, been strengthened or weakened since your session?
  • Beauty comes from within. It comes in all shapes and sizes but most importantly it comes from confidence. Owning it. Being yourself. Beautiful is not fake. Not allowing others to decide what beautiful should be for you.
  • Both sessions strengthened that. Meeting and talking to Elizabeth and John made me feel like no matter what happened or changed all the things I could not control could not take away my beauty unless I let it. And that isn't happening anytime soon.
  • 7. Would recommend that women in your life have a session with Elizabeth? Would you refer your friends/family?
  • For sure! I've recommended her to anyone and everyone I know. I wish I could've got my Mom a session.
  • 8. What are 3 words to describe how you felt about your experience with Elizabeth before the actual session?
  • Scared
  • Insecure
  • WTF
  • 9. What are 3 words to describe how you felt about your experience with Elizabeth as you were leaving the studio after your session? Do those feelings still ring true for you?
  • Confidence boosting
  • Liberating
  • Pride
  • Strong
  • Keeps me going everyday!!!
  • 10. Is there anything else you would like to add?
  • It can be just a wonderful experience or it can be life changing. You take what you need from it. We all need different things. Somehow Elizabeth is able to figure that out and give it to you.

Melissa

Sexy, beautiful, confident. Those are things I thought I felt walking through the door, and I had no idea till I walked back out.

I think every woman has to go through this experience. Celebrate life, celebrate yourself, celebrate beauty in yourself. We all deserve it.

  • 1. What brought you to Elizabeth Craig for a session?
  • My birthday was coming. I wanted to celebrate this event. My event, so I decided to do something for myself only!
  • 2. What, if anything, would have been an obstacle or fear that would have prevented you from a session with Elizabeth?
  • This gift (photo session) to myself was a luxury treat. And for a while I had this "mommy guilt"- I could have sent my kids to camp or bought something for my kids with the money I am about to spend on myself...and so on... BUT then I came to the realization that sometimes to make everybody happy you need to be happy yourself. So you can spread the happiness around. This session WILL make me happy because I really want it. So, I did it! No regrets!!
  • 3. How did you expect the experience of the session to be for you vs. how you feel the experience actually was for you (if there was a difference at all)?
  • My secret agenda was achieved! I felt special, I felt good and I felt happy. I never had makeup done professionally, I never had my hair done professionally. It was a good feeling. From my personal experience I learned that sometimes it is not "healthy" to have any expectations. It is better to go with the flow because when you set a certain level of expectations in your mind, you set the bar. And if the reality is not what you drew in your mind, the whole experience will be ruined. I did not want that, I wanted that day to be memorable for me, memorable in a special way. And ... it was!
  • 4. What was your favorite part of your session?
  • Frankly, I can not determine my favorite part. It comes as a whole memorable event. I can't cut it in chunks and favor one part over others. At the beginning you have that fear of the unknown- what outfits will be chosen, what makeup style will fit you better. Then you feel excited when the whole thing starts- you pose, get into weird poses (which turn out to be awesome poses for the right picture!!). Here you start changing for another scene, and every scene is getting more exciting than the previous because you open up, you warm up for the camera. You start to feel it! After comes the big reveal. Not less exciting than the photo session itself. You get to see new YOU. "Oh, as it turns out I can look like THAT!! WOW!"
  • 5. Have you noticed any differences in yourself since your session / Do you feel the same about your inner/outer beauty or has that self-perception changed at all in a positive way, and if so, did that feeling last for you / Do you see yourself differently now? If so, what are those changes?
  • I did not experience any dramatic changes but it does not mean that day did not affect me. But I learned to accept my body. I accepted the way my body looks. Every single woman is beautiful. It's all in our heads. Change the "angle" and it will change the perspective.
  • 6. How do you define “beautiful" and has that changed, been strengthened or weakened since your session?
  • For me "beautiful" is not only about the inner beauty. To be beautiful doesn't mean to wear size 0 and have Victoria's secret model proportions. To be beautiful means to be comfortable in your own body. Unfortunately it is easier to say than to do. This session helped me to realize it again and again and again. I hope it is carved right in my brain! If not then I should repeat the"treatment" :))
  • 7. Would recommend that women in your life have a session with Elizabeth? Would you refer your friends/family?
  • I think every woman has to go through this experience. Celebrate life, celebrate yourself, celebrate beauty in yourself. We all deserve it. Of course I would refer my friends. Such an event need to happen in our busy lives at least once, so we can refer to these memories when we feel blue:)
  • 8. What are 3 words to describe how you felt about your experience with Elizabeth before the actual session?
  • it is happening!!!!!!
  • 9. What are 3 words to describe how you felt about your experience with Elizabeth as you were leaving the studio after your session? Do those feelings still ring true fo you?
  • Beautiful, Fearless, Confident.
  • 10. Is there anything else you would like to add?
  • Thank you!!!
