Foodie Friday | Fun Things To Do With Potatoes
Gosh I love Pinterest. I can't believe the things I learn that make life so much more fun. :) Did you know that you can clean your dishwasher by running it with a glass measuring cup full of vinegar? After that cycle finishes sprinkle baking soda around the inside of the dishwasher and run another cycle to clean stains. WOW! How awesome is that?? Did you know you can make your own glow-in-the-dark mason jars to set around your patio for a pretty source of light?? Just buy glow-in-the-dark paint in lots of fun colors and use a small paintbrush to paint gazillions of little dots inside the mason jar (of if you're like me you just pour a little inside the jar and swish the jar around to get swirls, which is much less work), set it out in the sun so it gets lots of juice and pow! It's party time! I would never have known this stuff! Everything from DIY crafts, to recipes to fashion to...well....everything. So when I came across this little tidbit for potatoes I just had to try it.
How fun is this?? Take your potato, place chop sticks or hard plastic straws or whatever you can set on each side of the potato, slice down to the chop sticks so as to not slice off pieces, brush with canola oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Bake at 400 for 1 hour. If you want to add toppings (parmesan cheese, bread crumbs or even brown sugar and cinnamon for a sweet potato) just bake at 400 for 40 minutes then pull them out of the oven, dress them with your toppings and bake at 425 for an additional 20 minutes and YUM! Crispy, delicious outside and a warm, soft inside.
Nothing better than pairing these with some broccoli and of course, our family favorite, sweet potato sandwiches.
That's what's for dinner folks!
