The Boudoir Bungalow
That's what this place was: a bungalow. It oozed with charm, comfort, a casual homey feeling that just invited you in. There were bohemian accents all over this apartment and the light....oh my. The light. But what I was most excited about was what the texture of this home was going to give me. I was giddy with sheer delight with what I had already conjured in my mind when I found this place on airbnb. Yes, I constantly search for places on airbnb and indulgently compile wish lists of homes I want to shoot inside. I rarely get out of the studio and sometimes I simply need a new and fresh place so I can create with fresh eyes.
And then there was Sarah. Ohhhhh Sarah. She contacted me a bit ago and talked with me about how she had pondered and dreamed about a shoot for herself, but just never felt like she was ready. Until now. And how we planned, conspired and excitedly put together in our heads what we wanted to come out of this shoot!
Sarah told me how thrilled she was to do this for herself and how equally thrilled she is to show her friends and family just how strong she feels right now in her life and how important it was for her to capture herself right now, at this moment. I loved hearing that from her. She's feeling good. She's feeling strong. She wants to bottle it, save it and celebrate it.
Yep--hear that? That's the sound of me dancing a jig. If you know me at all, you know how ecstatic I get when a woman realizes that yes, she is in fact worth celebrating all by herself-sies.
Who's ready? Because this gal (ahem....me...just in case you weren't sure) just loves a good celebration.
