Knowing Your Strength. Understanding Your Power. Feeling Your Beauty.
These are all the things I wish for each and every woman in this world. And one session at a time...I feel pretty good about my contribution to nudging women in that right direction. This stunning woman may have come to me for her 1 year anniversary gift, but she left with a lot more, as you can read below. She was very quiet throughout her session but I could feel the energy in the room shift as we went on with each phase. The smile that took over her face as I showed her the back of my camera let me know I was navigating pretty well. Below is what she posted on Instagram and I was over the moon to read it. I think you will be too...
"When I was a kid there was a neighborhood boy who called me fat. A boy in junior high said I needed to lose weight. My grandmother commented on my weight when I was younger. Relatively recently someone said (not to my face) that I shouldn't post photos of myself wearing a swimsuit. These are just a few examples of body-shaming I have experienced, the majority of which were during childhood and through my teenage years. There is this collective of assholes who seemingly garner joy from judging the appearance of others, filling an obvious void within themselves. After the initial sting of comments such as these wore off, I continued living my life. For the most part, I didn't let these experiences alter my opinion of myself. I think Iām a pretty rad person. š For my one year anniversary gift to my husband I had boudoir photos taken (paper is the traditional gift). Ultimately the photos are a gift for my husband, but I also did this for myself. I had so much fun working with @elizabethcraigphotography and @athomebeautypgh! They are amazing at what they do! I felt like a super model. I highly recommend booking a shoot with them! Ladies (and gentlemen), do not allow anyone to make you feel inferior because you do not look a certain way. You are strong. You are powerful. You are beautiful. You are you. No one else can be you. Cherish that. PS - this is only a few of more than 60 photos...some are just for my husband's eyes. š"
Thank you, my dear, for not only coming to spend some time with me, but for also reiterating a message and mantra that every woman needs to repeat in their minds every day. You are strong. You are powerful. You are beautiful. You are you. No one else can be you. Cherish that. And you are simply awesome. Makeover by At Home Beauty.
