One of The Most Productive Thing You Can Do for Your Business

Let me tell you something I implemented years ago and the value, worth, and return on the investment of minimal time it took me to implement has been a thousand-fold.

What is this extraordinary business practice that will be a game-changer for you? A survey. Are you unimpressed? You shouldn’t be. A yearly, or even better a twice-yearly anonymous survey distributed to your previous clients will up your game to a level you never expected.

You see, your past clientele is a goldmine’s worth of valuable information on what works and what needs tweaking in your business. Who would know better about this than previous clients? This simple, easy tool will keep your business running smoothly and the experience you provide for your clients as top notch as you can get.

I can’t begin to tell you how valuable this has been for me. I’ve always photographed one session a day, but at one point in my business I decided to try out lowering my prices and trying my hand at volume vs. higher prices. I wanted to open my services to a wider population in terms of economic status and thought this would be a good idea. After getting a few surveys back, I realized that people were more than willing to pay a higher price for an experience that seemed less rushed. So, I changed my workflow back to what it was. After receiving other survey responses, I realized that I needed to reword some of my blogs because some women were expecting a little more out of their sessions than I was really able to provide, in terms of body love. I also began offering pop-up sessions more often for my previous clients because that was an overwhelming response I received as well. All of these things have helped me to keep the motors chugging along and my clients’ experiences what I want them to be, which in turn, keeps the business coming my way.

First, make sure it’s anonymous for obvious reasons. Simply put, you have more of a chance of getting more honest answers. Second, try and keep it as simple as possible because if it’s labor intensive you might not get many participants. If you find that the return rate on your survey needs a boost, consider including some kind of small incentive like a cash gift or a gift certificate to a local coffee shop. Make sure to include the most important information you want to receive back. I use my CRM but if you don’t have a CRM, Survey Monkey is a wonderful place to start.

Don’t waste anymore time putting this on the back burner. You won’t regret it. Good luck!
