When She Looks at You | Boudoir & Glamour Photography
When she looks at you there needs to be a spark in her eye. We've all heard the term "dead in the eyes". No matter what amazing pose you have your client in, no matter how beautiful she is or her clothes are none of it will matter if you don't have something igniting in her eyes.
Sometimes this is an incredibly hard thing to do and I won't lie to you...I beat my clients till I get it. ;-) Yes, when you come to me for your session you are pampered, you are made to feel and look beautiful and this day is devoted to making you into and treating you like the goddess you are. But, you also leave tired and a bit sore. Because when you work with me you don't leave till I get "it". No matter how long it takes.
The easiest way to get a client to look at you the way you want them to is to look at them how you want them to look at you. Phew, I think I just said a tongue-twister and didn't know it. So I go thru these facial expressions with each of my clients and we practice it together...camera is set down, I have her relax, look at the floor and just "reset". Then we do it together over and over till she gets it. So be prepared to be an actress when you're photographing any client. Never ask a client to give you something you can't give back. If you want sultry, show her sultry in your own eyes. If you want shy, show it. Fierce, show it. Only if you can break that self-conscious feeling of "Ohhhhh, I can't do that!" will you get it out of her. If you can show her that you are not shy about showing intimate emotions then she won't be either. And if you show her first, then do it together, it gives her that permission she needs to just let it roll.
Try it on your next shoot. Bet it works!
