What is Your Unlived Life | Boudoir Photography | Pittsburgh, PA

I feel like we live in a world where we are all walking around with a full and complete understanding that everything is backwards and upside down but we just keep on living this way because we’re not sure how to not live this way. It’s like the Matrix meets Alice in Wonderland.

We all have these dreams of what life would really be like if we believed we could actually get away with it without hurting anyone else or letting anyone else down. Only…if we actually lived the life we really wanted to live, we’d actually be everything that everyone wants us to be because we’d be happy, content, joyous, and so much more available because we are so filled up.

Why is it that our heart’s content is always something that is so inconvenient for everyone else?? Why is our dream life so threatening?? Why is our happiness always something that is so unrealistic and unlivable?? Why do we believe that if we actually lived the life we really want to live, it would cause such a cataclysmic and volcanic reaction that our lives, and the lives of those we love, would be reset into a trajectory of misery and failure??

OK. Yeah…maybe a bit dramatic (or not, really, right??) My question to you is: What does your unlived life look like? You know, the one that only lives inside your head? The one you only tell your bestestestestest friend because they’ll love you no matter what crazy shit comes out of your mouth?

Yeah…that one.

There isn’t a session or conversation that goes by that this doesn’t come up on some small or big way lately. Clients sit in the big chair and get their hair and makeup done and they talk to me about dreams gone by the wayside, ideas sitting in the locked-up part of their hearts…lives completely unlived.

And you know what?

When they tell me their dreams and ideas they not only sound perfectly lovely, they sound perfectly doable!

And then…

“Yeah, well…I mean…I could never do that…”

“Well, yeah…sure…in a perfect world, right??”

“Sure, if I didn’t have kids to raise/a spouse that would never be on board/parents or inlaws that would totally disapprove/debt out my ass/people that counted on me/enter any xyz reason right here.”

Me? I would sell every single thing I own and pack up one bag for the whole family and travel the world and not stop. I’d write books all along the way (bestselling, of course, duh) and we’d spend our time in cafes butchering the local language trying to make friends, cruising all the local museums and restaurants, sitting quietly on park benches while we take in the people, enjoy picnics in the park, bake American treats for our neighbors that they would absolutely hate, and just when we get settled…move on to the next location. When it all becomes too much, I’d pick a location and open a shop and sell something. I have no idea what, but likely something amazing and awful like bad poetry and vegan burritos.

Is that such a troublesome dream?? Well, of course, that depends on who you’re asking.

So, tell me. What is your unlived life? What would your life look like if you didn’t have to worry about other’s disapproval?

I’m all ears.

If part of your unlived life includes a session with me, let’s do this, girl.
